Known as the Alamo City, San Antonio is rich in history. Of course the Alamo is a must see but you won't want to miss visiting the many missions, the Spanish Governor's mansion or historic Downtown and the River Barge (a history lesson in itself).
If you enjoy museums and the Arts, you will love the Witte Museum, Institute of Texan Cultures, The Botanical Gardens, San Antonio Museum of Art, the McNay Art Museum or the Broadway series shows at the Majestic Theatre. Even though San Antonio is a large city, it has not lost its small town feel. The people, friendly and hospitable, are welcoming to visitors and new residents.
Nearby there are several small charming towns where you can shop in a laidback downtown setting, experience farmer's markets and local wineries, partake of the fresh peaches, pecans and strawberries grown in the area as well as experience the beauty of the Texas Hill Country.
